As an owner or occupier of a frontage which is a paid-up member of the Kensington Garden Square Garden Association, you can apply for the loan of a key to the Gardens.
The cost cost of loaning an electronic key is £80 including a £50 deposit. The £50 deposit is repayable when you return the electronic key to the Association within 6 months of leaving the Square. One key is given per flat / address. If you fail to return the electronic key within that time period then the deposit will be forfeited.
When using the Garden, you undertake to respect and abide by all the Rules and Bye-Laws of the Association. The byelaws, or rules, of the gardens are summarised here and are displayed at each gate to the large and small garden. They are designed to preserve the garden and protect it for all garden users. Some of the main points are:
- No Littering. PLEASE take your rubbish with you! There is no garden cleaner.
- Barbecues and gatherings. Barbecues are not allowed. An exception can only be made as part of a garden party arrangement. Please see ‘Parties & BBQs in the Garden‘ for more information.
- No pets in the garden. This is to keep the place clean and prevent any harassment to those of us who aren’t animal lovers. It also prevents the bedding plants being trampled.
- No ball games. This is a safety issue and is also designed to protect the turf and the bedding plants. There are a babies and toddlers in the square and we need to avoid inquiries. Ball games damage bedding plants and disturb the peace for other users of the garden. If you wish to play ball games, Hyde Park is just a few minutes walk away.
